A mysterious invite to a breakfast event with Google's new Android chief is short on clues, but big on promise.
An event next Wednesday in San Francisco could prove the perfect opportunity for Google to trot out a new Android update and Nexus devices to go with it.
Googs left a lot unsaid at its annual I/O conference this past May, with the software giant passing up the chance to hook developers on the next wave of its mobile OS and devices.
With the exception of the time, date, and location, there's very little hinting at what we might see. What we do know is that Sundar Pichai will preside over the breakfast event, which is significant since Pichai took over Android chief Andy Rubin's role when Rubin took on new projects.
On the device front, rumors and images circulating around a Nexus 7 tablet successor fan the flames that Google could introduce an update of the pure Android device./p>
The Moto X custom smartphone is another option, since we did just see it cocked on Eric Schmidt's ear. Since Pichai also heads up Chrome, it's also possible we could also see a new Chromebook.
Google will livestream the event, and CNET will be on the scene to bring you all the news.
Story updated at 9:56am PT with new speculation.
